Jodi Sta. Maria on how she handles her teenager son transitioning in his adolescence

JODI Sta. Maria believes she is not overstepping as a mom when she researches about the things her son Thirdy is now into as a teenager.

In a livestream on Facebook for her brand endorsement , Jodi talked about how she has been adapting her parenting style to the changing ways of Thirdy.

She said, “I think it’s different ngayon kasi he’s a teenager, di ba? Fifteen years old na.

“He is his own person, trying to explore. He’s very curious, trying to be his own individual.

“Nandun siya sa point na gusto niya ng identity separate from the mother.

“Unlike before, lahat ng gusto mo, gusto din niya…

“Of course, the difference now when it comes to discipline, parang mas sumusunod sila before sa atin.

“Kasi when Thirdy was younger, susunod siya because I have authority. I am his mother.”

Thirdy, who is turning 15 this year, is Sta. Maria’s son with her former husband Pampi Lacson.

When asked what she considers her biggest challenge as a single mom, Sta. Maria said: “I think siguro ‘yung first part of me being a single mom, that part of transition from having a family to doing things differently.”

Sta. Maria, however, refuses to take all the credit in raising Thirdy into the beautiful boy that he is today.

Calling Lacson a “good provider,” Sta. Maria said: “Wala naman akong masasabi doon. I thank the Lord na we are in good terms talaga. We are friends.”

Nonetheless, Sta. Maria still promises to give her all in order to provide a good life for her son.

Jodi said she makes sure to check on Thirdy from time to time to know how he is feeling, especially now that he is transitioning into adolescence.
